A Look Back at an Inspiring Year

Movement Day NYC

With over 1,500 registrants, not only was Oct. 20-21’s MDNYC at Harlem’s Bethel Gospel Assembly a tremendous success in terms of attendance, track speakers and impact, it embodied a powerful demographic shift, with 80% of those in attendance from the New York metropolitan area, four times more New Yorkers than had ever attended a Movement Day. This reinforces LEAD.NYC’s mission to unite our city and make it a powerful voice for global gospel impact.

Leading in the City

In 2017, we shared the gospel in a new way though our “Leading in the City” podcast, which featured a wide, impactful group of Christian leaders, from Rev. Tim Keller to DJ Tony Tone sharing honest dialogues on tough issues and their visions for an impactful urban gospel. 1st Thursday

Our initial 1st Thursday Prayer meeting was held over 20 years ago, but 2017 saw the revitalization of this monthly event, with more than 40 pastors and ministry leaders attending December’s gathering at The Salisbury Hotel next to Calvary Baptist Church on 57th St. Throughout 2018, we will continue welcoming more leaders and guest pastors from 8:00 to 9:00 AM the first Thursday of each month as we unite more of New York’s leaders.

A Night with Mariano Rivera & Friends

Our Nov. 28 fundraising gala was a tremendous success, raising awareness for our initiatives and much-needed funds for both LEAD.NYC and our invaluable co-sponsor YoungLife. Featuring impressive grand auction prizes, along with special guests Carlos Beltran and Yankees Chaplain Willie Alfonso, this will be first of more collaborative events between LEAD.NYC and other ministries.

1st Annual Pastoral Cabinet Getaway

In September, 30 busy urban pastors journeyed 30 hours by bus to-and-from New York and Washington, D.C. for something bigger than themselves—the opportunity to build productive relationships and to experience a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum of the Bible, before it opened to the public. We believe this will be the first of many similar journeys, giving us the time to unite our congregations and develop solutions to the problems we all share.
